UPDATE: Not guilty! A jury acquitted Officer Betty Shelby of all charges on May 17, 2017.
On April 2, 2017, Bill Whitaker of 60 Minutes pulled no punches while interviewing now suspended-without-pay Police Officer Betty Shelby of the Tulsa, Oklahoma Police Department.
Like we have come to expect from the politically-driven liberal media, Whitaker proudly and erroneously says to Shelby, “You were Terrance Crutcher’s, Judge, Jury and Executioner.”
Whitaker’s statement is not only ignorant of the facts as 60 Minutes itself goes on to prove, but is a jarring reminder of just how far the media will go to crucify a cop in public and before a jury of their peers.
But, despite trying as hard as they did, 60 Minutes utterly failed to convict Betty Shelby of shooting Terrance Crutcher for “no apparent reason.”
Now let’s step back to the day Betty met Terrance; she had no idea that Terrance Crutcher had a lengthy criminal record with a history of violence and drug abuse– with multiple entries for resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, and obstructing an officer.
Moreover, in one of these instances of arrest, the police officers recovered a loaded gun in his Terrance Crutcher’s sock!
Bill Whitaker’s and 60 Minutes’ hatchet job on Officer Shelby deliberately neglected Crutcher’s affinity for carrying – and concealing – loaded weapons!
Like all officers, Betty Shelby went to work knowing her job was to protect life and property on that fateful day.
With a convicted criminal like Terrance Crutcher on the loose, driving a vehicle while high and out of his mind on PCP, it’s outrageous that Whitaker and 60 Minutes would attempt to frame a dedicated Officer like Betty Shelby.
Remember, had Terrance Crutcher reached inside his SUV and grabbed another illegally concealed weapon, it could have been Officer Betty Shelby lying in a pool of blood that night.
Betty Shelby, a highly-trained and decorated Police Officer, devoted wife and grandmother, stands today in desperate need of help after having been scapegoated and convicted by the liberal press even before a fair trial by a jury of her peers.
Betty Shelby is yet the latest Police Officer being made a scapegoat in the “War on Cops” in an incident where she did what exactly as she was taught by her department to stop the threat.
By September 6th the “War on Cops” had already seen 35 police officers gunned down by armed suspects. By the end of the year, that number would climb to 63.
The National Center for Police Defense stands beside Betty Shelby and all Police Officers who are facing the system that they protect and serve.
Won’t you stand with us? Betty Shelby and her family need you to.
I know Officer Betty Shelby, and trust me, she’d be there for you….
